Kane & Lynch, Crossfire Coming to PS3
Eidos parent company SCi will release Kane & Lynch: Dead Men and Crossfire for PS3.
This sets up Kane & Lynch, the next shooter from the Hitman boys, for a simultaneous release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC this year. Crossfire meanwhile, a new game from the developer behind the Conflict series, will arrive next year on the same platforms.
SCi also says it's in advanced negotiations for the film rights to the Kane & Lynch film, following up the Hitman flick which is currently in production with Fox.
As you'd expect from the makers of the Hitman series, Dead Men doesn't pull any punches. Tt's an adults only, story-driven adventure that would put most Hollywood action movies to shame. Playing as Kane, a deadly mercenary who has been busted free from an appointment on death row (and then ordered to recover a stash of loot belonging to h .....

PS3 Firmware Update
Sony has released the latest 1.70 firmware for PS3, laying the groundwork for playing downloadable PS1 titles on the console itself, and improving backward compatibility with PS2 peripherals.
Long announced and in development, the latest firmware update has finally promised to give players the chance to play the PlayStation Network's selection of downloadable PS1 titles on the console itself -- as opposed to just on the PSP.
At this time, however, it appears PS1 downloads will have to be enabled by Sony to work on the console itself, including re-downloading games bought earlier than this latest update, so current compatibility is limited, at best.
The firmware also adds the ability for players to transfer save data from the PSP to PS3, giving them the option to seamlessly continue games whether at home or away.
The new system firmware is available by selecting the system update on your PS3 console. Unfortunately, the Nor .....
Pro Evolution Soccer 6 for PS2 Now PS3 Compatible
Sony has updated the PS3 to play the PS2 version of Pro Evolution Soccer 6 "with no known issues." Actually, PES6 has been compatible with the PS3 since the console's launch, but the online gameplay was completely broken. Thanks to Sony's latest firmware update, that's all been squared away.
Just get your PS3 updated to the latest firmware, version 1.7, to get PES 6 working perfectly in both offline and online matches. Enjoy. The latest firmware has also enable the PS3 to play PSone games downloaded from the PSNetwork (usually for play on PSP).

PS3 Users Boost Home Program
Sony Computer Entertainment officials have revealed that Stanford University’s Folding@home distributed computing project has greatly benefited from PS3 user participation, with the program's computing capacity more than doubling since the console joined the effort.
Folding@home is used to aid in calculations relating to the study of protein folding and protein folding diseases and was originally run by joining thousands of PCs throughout the world (with a concept similar to the popular SETI@home screen saver, which analyzes radio-telescope data to find evidence of intelligent signals from space).
In March, the project was added to the PlayStation 3’s XMB (XrossMediaBar) via a firmware update. Since then, more than 250,000 unique PS3 users have registered to participate in the program, lending their consoles' processing power to the research effort.
Program officials note that the rapid uptake among PS3 users has spurred additional growth amo .....
